Online Advocacy Associate

The Natural Resources Defense Council is seeking an online advocacy associate to work in its Washington, DC office. NRDC is a national non-profit environmental organization with 1.3 million members and online activists. The online advocacy associate reports to the Director of Online Advocacy and plays an important role in coordinating and implementing the large-scale online advocacy and social media activities of NRDC and its 501(c)(4) affiliate, the NRDC Action Fund.

The responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Write/edit action alerts and post alerts to NRDC and NRDC Action Fund websites and associated mini-sites
  • compile and format action alerts in ongoing email alerts; set up alerts in our database email tool; test and send alerts to full or targeted segments of lists
  • Assist with development of outreach in online communities and social media campaigns.
  • work with web vendors to test website/database functionality and resolve technical problems
  • Track, maintain and follow up with program staff on content and status updates of action items; coordinate with web department to keep action postings up to date
  • Respond to activists’ emails with timely, accurate and useful replies; Arrange and oversee replies from other NRDC staff when necessary.

Community Organizer at Clean Water Action

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are seeking a full-time Community Organizer for our Philadelphia Office. Clean Water Action (CWA) is a nationwide environmental organization that works to activate people at the grassroots around issues of public health and environmental protection. Clean Water Fund (CWF) is a national research and education organization which promotes the public interest on issues related to water, waste and toxics. Clean Water builds its membership by running a professional, full-time canvass that talks to people in their homes every day. The work of the Community Organizer is to activate the people who join our organization and get them more deeply involved in the issues our organization has taken on.
