<description>To my way of thinking polution control professionals absolutely must engage with social media. We must start by contributing selflessly to the conversation with thoughtful posts that stimulate interaction and provide some new thoughts. Then when we actually plan an event like a tree planting or a cleanup we have enough credibility to attract people to our cause. We also need to make sure our events are well planned and organized so that they generate positive buzz afterward.
Nobody has the social media landscape completely figured out, but as &quot;traditional&quot; media like newspapers and television lose their ability to move people to action we in the nature protection business had better learn how to reach people in new ways if we want to survive.
